Allegiant Stadium

Allegiant Stadium for the P!nk concert - Happy 40th Amy!

We found ourselves planning a trip to Allegiant Stadium after Eric surprised us with floor tickets to P!nk’s Summer Carnival — the perfect way to celebrate Amy’s 40th birthday! It turned out to be an unforgettable night.

As tourists heading to our very first show at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, we knew we needed to do some serious prep.

Okay — full confession — we learned to prep the hard way. Ever since that John Mayer concert at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C., where we paid $40 to lock up Amy’s purse (thanks to a surprise bag policy), we’ve tried to be smarter. Or that time we lugged oversized lawn chairs in blister-inducing shoes to the Labor Dave Weekend show at The Gorge in George, Washington? Yeah… lesson learned.

Every venue is different, and if there’s one thing we’ve picked up, it’s to ask questions before we go.

So when it came to Allegiant Stadium, we had a checklist of things we wanted to know:

  • What hotels and casinos are closest to the stadium?

  • What’s the best way to get there — drive, walk, or take public transportation?

  • What’s the bag policy?

  • What makes Allegiant Stadium so special, anyway?

  • How’s the sound quality?

  • Do they accept credit cards or tap-to-pay?

  • Is there air conditioning? (Important — it’s Vegas!)

  • When’s the best time to buy merch — before or after the show?

  • And finally… will we need our hiking shoes again? 😉 (We’re looking at you, Gorge!)

Here is what we learned:

The closest casinos to Allegiant stadium are Mandalay Bay and Luxor. The monorail runs through both properties. It is about a 15 minute walk from Mandalay Bay. Our ride share dropped us off near Mandalay Bay and we joined the rest of the foot traffic from there.

Allegiant stadium is special because it is home to the Raiders. We are 49ers fans here but we’ll forgive you if you think that’s cool. The natural turf field can be rolled all the way outside to get sunlight when it is not in use. There are large screens facing the Las Vegas strip that project a high resolution image of the games. From certain seats and vantage points within the stadium you can see the strip.

The Las Vegas heat can be unrelenting. Thankfully, the stadium is climate controlled which is great because you can wear whatever you want and not worry about being uncomfortable, well, unless what you choose is not so comfortable.

Allegiant stadium is cashless, so make sure to bring your card or have your tap to pay set up. Some people say that the sound at Allegiant stadium isn’t the best. We were on the floor for this show so we’re not totally sure how much that impacts the experience of each person. We thought the sound was not bad at all.

We recommend getting to the stadium about 90 mins before your event to make sure you have time to get through security, buy your snacks and drinks and shop for merch. Once the show lets out, the crowds can be pretty intense.

We thought we’d have time to buy merch after the show… its our one regret. Overall, the stadium was great and we found the arrival and security process to be a breeze. Have you been to a game or concert at Allegiant stadium? What tips or recommendations do you have for other people going to their first event?
