Hartland Inn - Idaho
We booked a basic motel room at the Hartland Inn to go to the McCall Winter Carnival. We didn't complete any research before booking. It was just a one night stay and we have learned we can make it okay with a very basic room.
After seeing historic mansion listed on the booking information we decided to research to see what was around to eat and if there was any interesting information about the Hartland Inn. This is when we discovered that the property was under new ownership after the last owners met an unfortunate end at the hands of a deranged and disgruntled guest.
Our reservation said that check in was a contactless check in. We waited until the day before check in but never got any further instructions for checking in. We decided to arrive early and make sure the place was actually open and we would have a room that night. We arrived and found the front entrance to the mansion boarded off. A sandwich board sign with a handwritten sign said call to check in. We called and we're greeted by a hurried voice. Check in is at 3 pm. I explained we were just trying to make sure everything was set with the booking.
To our surprise we were given an early check in which was very very appreciated and completely not expected, after a long drive. The motel room was clean. The bed was ok, worn but still comfortable. The bathroom was rather small but the shower worked well. The hot tub was awesome and a great way to cap off our one night getaway. Our YouTube channel has a tour of the room as well as footage from the hot tub. If you would like to see more check it out.
